Blessed Be The Children
Children are the world’s most precious resource. They are the future for all communities, cultures and countries. Yet tragically, children are neglected and even abused in too many countries and societies. People and countries that do betray the trust of children destroy the great potential for a better future for their own societies and for our world.
Blessed be the Children is a series of lesson plans for young people teaching today’s youth about the plight of children in developing nations.
Welcoming Communities
Pier 21, located in Halifax, Nova Scotia stands as a symbol of welcome for hundreds of thousands who came to Canada’s shores years ago. For a long period of time, it was the gateway to the rest of Canada and helped ease the journey for those who were anxious and often afraid. It was a reception facility and primary point of entry that welcomed and processed visitors and hopeful citizens to this country. When it opened in 1928, the world travelled overseas by ship.
Welcoming Communities provides lesson plans with emphasis on the acceptance of others from many different cultures and how to encourage their integration into Canadian society. The lesson plans will also touch on issues of diversity and multiculturalism and how they strengthen the Canadian fabric.
