This lesson explores the impact of sports on Canadian identity and the experiences of marginalized athletes. Students will learn about the Winnipeg Falcons’ 1920 Olympic win, discuss barriers in sports, and research athletes who overcame challenges. They will design an inclusive sporting event and reflect on how sports shape citizenship and how newcomers enrich Canadian sports. Recommended for high school.
