Great Canadian Books: Self-Image and Identity

Part of the Great Canadian Books series | Hockey is a popular sport and has become associated with the Canadian identity and culture. Oftentimes, white male hockey players are centered in this sport while players of other identities (like race and gender) are rarely represented. In this lesson plan, students will learn about the experiences of racialized hockey players like Willie O’Ree and explore the initiatives being created to ensure this sport is inclusive for all Canadians.
